I live in Beckenham, Kent with my family and dog, and also spend time in a house overlooking the sea on the south Cornwall coast.
I have been painting for many years and have developed a variety of styles, depending on the subject and media used. I paint mainly in watercolour, and also use mixed media, collage and inks to add interest and texture.
I have experimented in the past with sand and shells which has proved popular on small "seaside" canvases, and I find ink and other substances provide an interesting alternative to painting traditional landscapes. Metallic finishes can also make a painting more exciting, and I made this the theme of a recent exhibition.
I have a love of the sea and water, and am inspired by the Cornish coast, which changes from wild and rocky to never-ending sandy beaches popular with surfers.
While wandering along the beaches I was amazed by the variety of shells and stones washed up on the shoreline, as well as coloured glass and debris. I started to use them to make pictures in box frames which I sell under the name of Kat Designs. These are under a separate Facebook page called KatArt Designs. See an example in my Gallery of images.
My favourite subject to paint is wildlife, and I continue to experiment with both domestic and wild animals.
I have exhibited in several local exhibitions and art galleries, and also sell my work to a variety of private clients.
